Driving Innovation and Embracing Diversity: Omar Ali's Impactful Journey at Arm

Why did you choose to join Arm?

I studied at the University of Southampton, and I remember Arm being a part of the careers fair and so after speaking to the team I knew it was something I wanted to be involved in, especially being so interested in Chip design. After doing some research I found that Arm had such versatility in roles, which is good as a graduate since I get the opportunity to move around roles, and the work-life balance was better than I could have ever expected.

What were your first impressions of Arm?

I couldn’t believe how friendly the staff were, even before I was hired. During interviews they did everything they could to settle my anxieties. When I joined the team, you could tell they actually cared about me, not just my work, and so I knew Arm was the right fit for me then. The Cambridge office’s architecture is amazing and there are so many hidden gems within, like the gym and physio rooms that really help me out.

How does it feel to contribute to the development of such cutting-edge technology?

It feels amazing to see all the different teams coming together on such a large scale. Seeing a product I contributed to in people’s hands is something indescribable, and it’s Arm that gives me those opportunities. People are there for you every step of the way, it’s a kind of attention and care that doesn’t exist anywhere else.
