Arm’s Mali GPU software powers billions of devices. We are hiring a Principal Software Architect to play a key role in defining, shaping, and guiding the evolution of GPU hardware and software technologies. You will work closely with architects, hardware teams and software engineering experts to translate product and partner needs into robust technical direction, ensuring coherence, scalability, and long-term sustainability of our software architecture.

You will be part of a highly skilled, motivated, and multi-disciplinary engineering community, passionate about graphics technology and focused on delivering world-class GPU software solutions!

What you will do:

  • Contribute to and evolve the software architecture and technical direction.
  • Work with cross domain experts in hardware and software disciplines.
  • Translate product, partner needs into clear architectural intent.
  • Take a hands-on, data-driven approach, diving into implementation details where needed to validate assumptions and guide decisions.
  • Act as a technical representative when engaging with partners, leadership, and internal stakeholders.
  • Identify key architectural risks, technical debt, and long-term sustainability concerns.
  • Mentor less experienced architects and engineers.

Required skills & experience:

  • Strong background in software development, with experience designing or influencing complex systems.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with deep technical experts across software, architecture, and hardware domains.
  • Experience defining and reasoning about software architecture, interfaces, and system-level trade-offs.
  • Comfortable working autonomously in a distributed, global engineering environment.
  • Clear technical communication skills, both written and verbal.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with graphics hardware and software technologies.
  • Background in drivers, firmware, embedded, or low-level systems software.
  • Experience of AI tooling to accelerate development.
  • Understanding of hardware/software co-design and architectural boundaries.
  • Familiarity with build, release, and CI validation at scale.
  • Knowledge of Android platform expectations (CDD, CTS/VTS) and/or platform bring-up.
  • Exposure to functional safety and security processes.
  • Experience engaging with open-source communities or contributing to long-term software roadmaps.
