Job Overview:
We seek a creative FPGA Engineer to join Arm’s Hardware Platform team in Cambridge. The team works at the forefront of embedded compute, working in collaboration with silicon architects, board designers, validation teams and software engineers. You will be coding on FPGA based platforms in Verilog/System Verilog to support test automation that allows running manual and automated test cycles in a controlled environment to validate Arm silicon IP, on FPGA prototypes and in emulation.
Responsibilities:
Experience of crafting and implementing sophisticated digital logic on FPGAs and CPLDs with high-speed memories and peripheral interfaces. This role involves the full design lifecycle, from architecture definition, coding, testbenches, and debugging on custom development boards.
Required Skills and Experience :
- Work with multi-disciplined teams (architects, hardware, software) to define and implement requirements for FPGA/CPLD solutions for test automation of SoC IP Validation Platforms
- Design, develop, and verify digital logic using System Verilog and Verilog for FPGA and CPLD devices. Create detailed specifications, documentation, and test plans
- Experience with high-speed interfaces such as PCIe, DDR, USB2/3, Gig Ethernet and communication protocols such as QSPI, I2C, UART, PMBus etc
- Experience with timing analysis and constraints and an appreciation for engineering efficiency
- Experience with automated testbenches to verify logic prior to implementation
- Optimize designs for power, performance, and resource utilisation
- Hardware debug and validation using standard lab equipment (oscilloscopes, analysers) and in-system tools like Xilinx/AMD Vivado ILA or Altera Quartus/SignalTap
- Familiar with the latest advancements in FPGA/CPLD technology, vendor tools, and industry trends
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
“Nice To Have” Skills and Experience :
- Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
- Experience with project management/bug tracking systems as Jira
- Programming languages such as TCL and Python. Design in a Linux environment
In Return:
Gain a deeper understanding of system architecture and performance, and work alongside many other engineering teams including software, packaging, SoC implementation and verification, collaborating and enabling engineers across multiple teams. You will enjoy new technical challenges faced when using advancing technologies!
