Job Overview:
We are seeking highly skilled and motivated System-on-Chip (SoC) Performance and Power modeling (PnP) Architects to join our diverse team at Arm! Our team focuses on PnP Analysis of Arm SoCs/SoPs (System-on-Package), System level infrastructure (SoC/SoP/Rackscale/Podscale) build together in pre- silicon environments. Working closely with design teams and customers, we develop best-in-class silicon platforms across markets such as servers, accelerators, client, infrastructure, IoT, and automotive.
Responsibilities:
- Efficiently drive and resolve architectural investigations and PnP tradeoff studies across various SoC (CPU, GPU, NPU, Media, IO, interconnects, memory controllers) and Platform components.
- Perform detailed workload characterization to identify performance bottlenecks and propose architectural solutions. Collaborate, coordinate, and drive consensus across architects, and IP teams. Conduct workload compaction to facilitate effective modeling.
- Create profiling and visualization frameworks to analyze with right level of abstraction. Contribute to automation for streamlining production processes
- Stay up-to-date on latest advancements in application development, workload characterization, and performance/power/thermal analysis
Required Skills and Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in SoC Performance Analysis within the semiconductor industry, with a strong track record of driving system-level performance investigations across complex silicon platforms.
- Strong expertise in Pre-Silicon performance analysis, including:
- Hands-on experience with simulation and hardware emulation platforms (e.g., Palladium, Veloce, ZeBu, or equivalent)
- Waveform-based debug and signal-level performance analysis
- Latency, bandwidth, and throughput characterization
- Transaction-level tracing and protocol debug (e.g., CHI, AXI, PCIe, CXL)
- System-level bottleneck identification and architectural tradeoff analysis
- Silicon bring-up support
- Performance counter analysis and telemetry-driven investigations
- Correlation between pre-silicon projections and silicon measurements
- Root-cause analysis and system-level performance tuning
- Strong understanding of system infrastructure and platform performance, including:
- Coherent interconnect fabrics
- DDR memory subsystems and memory controller behavior
- IO subsystems (PCIe, CXL)
- System performance under power, thermal, and TDP constraints
- Proven experience working in both Linux and bare-metal environments, including:
- Performance profiling and debug in Linux-based systems
- Kernel-level performance analysis and tracing (e.g., perf, ftrace, PMU-based analysis)
- Low-level bring-up, debug, and performance characterization in bare-metal environments
- Understanding of boot flows, firmware interactions, and system initialization impacts on performance
- Strong background in computer architecture and microarchitecture, including pipelines, cache hierarchy, memory systems, and system-level performance interactions.
- Proficiency in C/C++ and Python for developing performance analysis tools, automation frameworks, profiling infrastructure, and data visualization.
- Experience with performance modeling methodologies (e.g., SystemC/TLM) is desirable and considered complementary to strong hands-on performance analysis expertise.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to clearly present complex performance findings and influence architectural decisions.
