PPAB automation engineer

Job ID 2026-17325 Date posted May. 11, 2026 Location Trondheim, Norway Category Hardware Engineering Apply

Job Overview:

Are you passionate about applying AI to real engineering problems? Do you enjoy developing practical AI-based systems that help engineers analyse data, automate tasks, validate results, and improve workflows?

The GPU team at Arm is looking for an engineer to improve productivity, methodology, and decision-making across complex hardware development activities, with a particular focus onpower, performance, area, and bandwidth (PPAB) data handling. You will work with teams across hardware, software, modelling, performance, and implementation to identify opportunities where AI-driven automation can reduce manual effort and improve engineering quality!

This role is focused on building production-quality AI systems, not only using AI to assist with writing code. The aim is to combine engineering knowledge, PPAB data, automation, quality checks, and appropriate human review points to deliver reliable and repeatable outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop tools that automate or accelerate engineering tasks such as PPAB data analysis, result validation, report generation, code development, debugging, and design-space exploration.
  • Build closed-loop and semi-automated systems that combine AI, engineering-specific guidance, scripts, tests, data sources, and validation checks to produce reliable outputs suitable for engineering use.
  • Work with engineering teams to identify high-value automation opportunities, define practical requirements, prototype solutions, and mature them into robust, maintainable tools.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Practical experience using modern AI tools to solve technical problems, with interest in building AI-based engineering workflows.
  • Ability to break down engineering problems into clear workflow steps, define expected outputs, and think critically about how results should be checked, validated, and improved.
  • Programming and scripting skills, for example Python, with ability to develop, debug, and maintain automation or data-processing scripts.

“Nice To Have” Skills and Experience:

  • Experience designing AI skills, prompts, agents, or workflows that connect AI assistants with scripts, tests, documentation, or engineering data.
  • Experience with data processing, organising engineering data, dashboards, visualisation, or analysis automation.
  • Familiarity with hardware engineering, GPU development, performance analysis, verification, modelling, or implementation.

In Return:

You will have the opportunity to shape how AI is applied to engineering methodology in advanced GPU development. You will help build practical AI-based tools that move beyond simple code assistance, enabling workflows that can analyse data, run experiments, validate outputs, and support engineers in making faster and better-informed decisions.
