Job Overview:
The PE AI Transformation team is redefining how AI powers engineering at Arm! We partner with engineering teams across Arm to deliver real-world impact through applied AI—boosting productivity, fueling innovation, and making powerful AI tools part of every engineer’s workflow. Guided by our vision—engineering redefined through smarter workflows, faster execution, and greater creativity—we’re building systems that let technology amplify human potential.
We’re looking for a passionate AI Hardware Design Engineer to join our team.
You will build and scale AI-enabled automation that makes Arm digital hardware engineers faster and more effective. You’ll bridge deep hardware domain knowledge with LLM-based tooling and partner with domain experts and AI engineers to turn prototypes into usable, supportable capabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute hands-on on the development of AI-based solutions for Hardware Design automation, in collaboration with AI, Software and DevOps engineers.
- Curate/develop solutions based on OpenAI Codex skills and tool integrations (e.g., lint/sim/formal/CDC flows, log analysis, code review/refactor support).
- Collaborate with wider Arm Engineering teams to capture real engineering struggles and turn them into clear, testable requirements
- Build quick prototypes/PoCs and evaluate EDA AI tools, to validate feasibility and quantify impact
- Drive adoption as a change leader: run demos/workshops; Contribute onboarding guides, guidelines; Identify and remove adoption blocker
Required Skills and Experience:
- Digital Hardware Design engineering depth: Strong experience in Digital Design (RTL/SystemVerilog, lint, CDC/RDC, synthesis, etc) flows.
- LLM + AI tooling fluency: Practical experience using LLMs for engineering automation (prompt design/iteration, structured outputs, tool use).
- Strong solving + unblocker attitude: you can quickly diagnose why something doesn’t work in a real environment and drive resolution across teams.
- Clear written communication: can turn ambiguous conversations into clear requirements and actionable plans.
Nice to have skills and experience:
- Automation / scripting: Strong in at least one scripting language (Python preferred). Ability to integrate and orchestrate tools (parsing logs/reports, running flows, collecting results).
- Experience in an Application Engineer / internal customer-facing role where you translated user needs into working solutions.
- Familiarity with agentic workflows, tool calling patterns, and enterprise integration approaches (e.g., internal APIs, auth constraints).
What success looks like in 6–12 months
- Arm Hardware engineers can point to real workflow time saved (cycle time, debug time, triage effort) and product quality improvements (number of bugs found, PPA improvements) with credible evidence.
- Prototypes rapidly prove value or stop quickly with clear learning.
- Teams onboard quickly and stick with it: adoption grows because friction is removed and value is obvious.
