Job Overview:
Arm is scaling a large, multi-region OpenStack private cloud for HPC and engineering workloads across existing HPC environments. This role is an architecture partner for the private cloud platform leadership team, shaping decisions across compute, network, storage, scheduling, security, automation, and operations.
OpenStack experience is crucial. HPC or high-performance infrastructure and broad Linux, data-centre, network, storage, automation, reliability, security, and public-cloud judgement matter. Semiconductor experience is useful, not required.
The role combines technical influence, mentoring, teamwork, trust-building, clear decisions in ambiguity, and strengthening the Engineering IT architecture capability. People-management experience or interest in that path is welcome.
Responsibilities:
- Shape the OpenStack private cloud architecture across control plane, bare metal, compute, network, storage, scheduling, identity, observability, security, automation, and operability.
- Partner with platform, security, network, operations, supplier, and workload teams to make clear architecture choices, review tradeoffs, and remove blockers.
- Translate HPC, engineering, and enterprise workload needs into platform roadmap input, capacity and performance guidance, and integration patterns for schedulers, APIs, Terraform, CI/CD, and developer workflows.
- Review designs for reliability, resilience, cost, supportability, security, SLOs, and multi-region scale.
- Mentor engineers and architects, strengthen architecture practice, and support a collaborative technical leadership culture.
- Evaluate OpenStack, public cloud, platform engineering, SRE, automation, and infrastructure patterns; guide proofs of concept into production-ready standards.
Required Skills and Experience :
- Significant production OpenStack private cloud architecture experience.
- HPC/HTC or large technical workload experience, including schedulers, tooling, licensing, data flows, performance, or capacity forecasting.
- Linux, distributed systems, data centres, public cloud, platform engineering, Terraform, Ansible, Python, APIs, CI/CD, and Git workflows.
- Architecture influence: judgement, communication, mentoring, facilitation, team alignment, reliability, observability, SRE, and security awareness.
“Nice To Have” Skills and Experience :
- OpenStack services such as Nova, Neutron, Ironic, Cinder, Swift, Keystone, Glance, Octavia, Manila, Barbican, CloudKitty, or OVN/OVS; plus Ceph, NetApp, InfiniBand, DPU, high-performance networking, Kubernetes, Backstage, Spacelift, or Terraform Enterprise.
- EDA, semiconductor engineering, GPU, accelerator, or AI infrastructure experience; OpenStack community work, engaging suppliers, private cloud migrations, or people development experience.
In Return:
We are proud to have a set of behaviours that reflect our culture and guide our decisions, defining how we work together to defy the ordinary and shape the extraordinary.
