Staff Firmware Engineer - PCIe
Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer with deep expertise in PCIe technologies and people management capabilities to lead the design, development, and optimization of low-level software and firmware components. The ideal candidate will play a key role in system architecture, performance tuning, and silicon bring-up for next-generation platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Lead development of firmware / low-level software for PCIe subsystems
- Drive architecture, design, and implementation of high-performance, scalable solutions
- Develop and validate firmware across Pre-Silicon platforms (virtual platforms, FPGA, and emulators) to bringup in silicon.
- Collaborate with hardware, validation, and system teams to ensure seamless integration
- Optimize system performance including latency, bandwidth, and power efficiency
- Debug complex system-level issues across hardware-software boundaries
- Line Manage 3-5 Engineers including goal setting and performance evaluation
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across teams in their domain
Required Skills and Experience :
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field with 12+ years of experience in system software, firmware, or embedded development
- Strong expertise in at least one: PCIe (Gen4/Gen5/Gen6) architecture, LTSSM, enumeration, link training
- Solid programming experience in C/C++ (assembly is a plus)
- Experience with UEFI, bootloaders, low-level platform firmware
- People management and/or proven mentoring experience
“Nice To Have” Skills and Experience :
- Experience working on server or infrastructure platforms or high-performance computing systems
- Deep understanding of computer architecture and hardware-software interaction
- Demonstrated knowledge on features like virtualization and security in PCIe
- Good knowledge of Linux PCIe Subsystem
- Strong debugging skills using JTAG, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers
- Experience working with SoC bring-up and post-silicon validation
