Job Description:
With 125 Arm-powered products shipped every second, we'll be in a over a trillion smart devices by 2035. Your smartphone, award-winning VR gaming, the world's fastest supercomputer – our engineers are designing the advanced core processors leading the race towards a connected, autonomous, hyper-performance future.
The Architecture and Technology Group (ATG) at Arm develops technologies that shape Arm’s future architecture roadmap. As new architecture specifications evolve, early RTL prototypes running on FPGA/emulation platforms—along with updated OS and firmware stacks—are critical for evaluating architectural features for performance and functionality.
In this role, you will work across hardware and software domains to debug complex bring-up issues on next-generation RTL running on FPGA platforms. You will own the end-to-end methodology for evaluating new architectural features on FPGAs, collaborating closely with senior technical leads across software and hardware.
Do you want to shape the future of the Arm compute technologies that will enable the next revolution in computing? Here is an opportunity to contribute and learn immensely while at it.
Responsibilities
The role focuses on bringing up prototype software—such as Linux and custom payloads—on new RTL prototypes and debugging complex hardware–software issues across the IP and system. Payloads include both industry-standard and in-house workloads, and you may be required to stress Arm IP to its functional limits through innovative programming approaches.
You will collaborate with cross-site design teams to gather requirements, create targeted test plans, develop corner-case tests, and help meet verification goals that enable successful software bring-up for performance evaluation. Candidates with OS bring-up and testing experience on emulation or FPGA platforms will be a strong fit for this role.
Required Skills and Experience
- Overall Experience of 8 to 10 Years
- 6+ years of proven experience in either developing Linux operating system or verification and how they exploit the hardware features
- Experience with software bring-up and debugging tools like DS-5, on hardware acceleration platforms like Emulators or FPGAs
- Understanding of CPU or SoC architecture and its verification
- Consistent track record of contributing to project execution and delivery, individually or in a team
- Good in logical programming using C/C++/assembly
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and flexibility towards the goal of problem solving.
"Nice To Have" Skills and Experience
- Awareness of Computer architecture features (such as caches, MMU, SMP, coherency)
- General understanding of Arm-based systems and protocols like AHB, AXI, ACE, or CHI
- Use of scripting languages like Perl/Python/Shell
- Understanding of digital design concepts and Verilog coding
- Knowledge of advanced verification techniques like assertions, property checking, etc
