Job Description
The Software (CE-SW) group is responsible for developing and improving the software and Firmware ecosystem around Arm's next generation Solutions. This means working with processors and other hardware technology not yet available to the public. You will join a team of Software Engineers who share a passion for leaving their mark on the future of computing. Arm is seeking skilled, experienced, and highly motivated release to integrate and release a software stack for a new range of Arm hardware devices.
This team is part of the wider software group in Arm. Our mission is to ensure successful deployment of the Arm architecture into key software ecosystems. This role is based in our Bangalore office.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Build, develop, and carry out validation and Quality Assurance scenarios for embedded firmware, system software, and platform-level components across pre-silicon and post-silicon environments.
- Develop robust test strategies, test plans, and automation methodologies for pre-silicon and post-silicon validation environments.
- Execute validation and debugging of high-speed and low-speed interfaces such as PCIe, DDR, I2C, SPI, SPMI, and UART.
- Create and execute functional, regression, stress, stability, and performance test cases for embedded Linux-based software stacks and firmware components.
- Analyze failures through log analysis, crash dump analysis, trace collection, and low-level debugging to identify root causes and drive issue resolution.
- Perform silicon bring-up, board validation, firmware integration, and system-level validation on ARM-based embedded platforms.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards, validation processes, and software development best practices across the engineering organization.
Required Skills and Experience
- Proven 5+ years of experience in Quality Assurance and Test automation of product quality system software.
- Hands on experience of test code development and automation for firmware or system software. Excellent programming skills in C/C++.
- Python and Bash/Shell scripts are required.
- Knowledge on embedded Linux-based software stack
- Good understanding of high-speed and low-speed IO protocols.: PCIe, DDR, I2C, SPI, SPMI, UART.
- Good understanding and working experience on Boot flow, BIOS/UEFI and other boot critical Firmwares
- Good Understanding or working experience on RAS/BMC/Telemetry
- Both pre-silicon and post-silicon Software/Firmware and system validation expertise.
- Good understanding of computer architecture, micro architecture concepts – ideally Arm architecture.
- Proficient with Git, Gitlab/Github API and version control scripting
“Nice to have” Skills and Experience
- Experience in CI/CD, automation and software release
- Defect triaging and defect management experience of system software releases.
- Familiarity with QA of platform software for server platforms.
- Verification and validation of firmware.
