The Software (CE-SW) group is responsible for developing and improving the software ecosystem around Arm's next generation architectures and systems. This means working with processors and other hardware technology not yet available to the public. You will join a team of Software Engineers who share a passion for leaving their mark on the future of computing.

The Role
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer in Test with strong expertise in firmware and Linux-based system validation for Arm's reference server-class platforms. In this role, you will lead automated test development, validation strategy, and quality improvements across the full development lifecycle.
You understand how testing drives customer value and empower engineering teams to deliver production-quality software. You are technically curious, diligent, and passionate about quality.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with firmware, kernel, and software teams to define and implement quality processes across all stages of the development lifecycle.
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test cases for:
- Bootloaders and firmware components
- Linux kernel and device drivers
- BSP layers, system software and Platform-level applications
- Develop and complete validation plans for Arm's reference server-class platforms features including performance, stability, scalability, and reliability.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to ensure continuous regression coverage.
- Drive quality improvements by identifying gaps in test coverage, validation methodology, and process efficiency.
- Analyze failures, perform root cause analysis, and work closely with development teams to resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Validate critical Arm's reference server-class platforms features such as power management, core scaling, interface speed, and system boot reliability.
- Chip in to release readiness reviews and quality signoff.
- Support hardware bring-up, board validation, and reboot/stress testing activities.
Your day-to-day activities will include:
- Reviewing new feature requirements (e.g., core scaling, interface speed, power management) and translating them into detailed validation plans and automated test cases.
- Developing and maintaining automated test frameworks for firmware, bootloaders (e.g., UEFI/EDK2), Linux kernel, device drivers, and system applications.
- Validating Arm's reference server-class platform stability through reboot, stress, performance, scalability, and long-run reliability testing.
- Integrating test cases into CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI/Jenkins) to ensure continuous
- Maintaining traceability between requirements, test cases, and validation results to ensure full feature coverage.
- Preparing QA summaries and contributing release sign-off reviews, including generating validation reports for customer releases.
- Collaborating with multi-functional and distributed teams (firmware, kernel, DevOps, hardware, and release teams) to improve quality processes and release efficiency.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Minimum 6+ years of proven experience.
- Strong experience in Linux internals and kernel validation, Firmware/bootloader validation (e.g., U-Boot, EDK2, BIOS, BMC) and Device driver testing.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation (Python, Shell, or similar).
- Experience working in version control systems (Git, Gerrit) and CI/CD environments (e.g., GitLab CI, Jenkins).
- Strong debugging skills across firmware and OS layers.
- Experience with Arm's reference server-class platforms is highly preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills; excellent written and spoken English.
“Nice To Have” Skills and Experience:
- Experience with hardware validation labs and test farms.
- Knowledge of performance benchmarking and stress testing tools.
- Experience in customer-facing validation or release processes.
- Understanding of ARM-based server architectures.
- Exposure to virtualization, networking, or storage validation.
- Expertise in application and low-level systems, with a strong understanding of system architecture (preferably ARM), OS fundamentals, bootloaders, and device.
