About the Team
The Compute Subsystem (CSS) team at Arm designs and delivers integrated, validated compute subsystems that serve as reference platforms for Arm-based SoCs. The team collaborates across CPU, interconnect, memory, and IO IP teams to build efficient, high-performance solutions targeting client, infrastructure, and automotive markets.
The Functional Validation Team ensures that Arm’s compute subsystems meet quality, performance, and functionality expectations through comprehensive pre-silicon and post-silicon validation across the product lifecycle.
Role Overview
As a Engineer in Functional Validation, you will be responsible for developing, executing, and improving validation methodologies for Arm’s compute subsystems IPs both before and after silicon bring-up. You will work closely with design, verification, emulation and customer enablement teams to ensure robust validation coverage and early detection of complex system-level issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute pre-silicon and post-silicon validation plans for Arm’s compute subsystems.
- Build and enhance test environments, automation frameworks, and validation infrastructure using emulation and silicon platforms.
- Perform system-level functional validation, focusing on CPU clusters, coherent interconnects, memory controllers, and peripheral integration.
- Drive root-cause analysis of hardware, firmware, and software issues, collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Develop diagnostic, stress, and performance workloads to validate system functionality, power, and performance.
- Support silicon bring-up and debug activities, including board-level testing and post-silicon lab validation.
- Analyze coverage gaps and contribute to improving validation efficiency and quality metrics.
- Contribute to automation and continuous integration for validation workflows.
Required Skills and Experience
- 3–5 years of relevant industry experience in SoC, subsystem, or IP-level functional validation.
- Strong understanding of ARM based SoC architecture, AMBA protocols (AXI/ACE/CHI), cache coherency, and CPU subsystems.
- Proficiency in C/C++ and scripting languages (Python) for test automation and analysis.
- Experience with hardware validation tools (logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, JTAG debuggers) and pre-silicon simulation/emulation environments.
- Solid understanding of pre-silicon verification techniques and post-silicon validation challenges.
- Familiarity with C based IP drivers and firmware for system-level bring-up and validation.
- Strong analytical and debugging skills; ability to triage complex hardware/software interactions.

Hybrid Working at Arm
Arm’s approach to hybrid working is designed to create a working environment that supports both high performance and personal wellbeing. We believe in bringing people together face to face to enable us to work at pace, whilst recognizing the value of flexibility. Within that framework, we empower groups/teams to determine their own hybrid working patterns, depending on the work and the team’s needs. Details of what this means for each role will be shared upon application. In some cases, the flexibility we can offer is limited by local legal, regulatory, tax, or other considerations, and where this is the case, we will collaborate with you to find the best solution. Please talk to us to find out more about what this could look like for you.
Equal Opportunities at Arm
Arm is an equal opportunity employer, committed to providing an environment of mutual respect where equal opportunities are available to all applicants and colleagues.
