Job Overview
We are seeking a CPU Microarchitect/designer with LoadStore memory system experience to join our CPU Design team in Austin or Raleigh. In this role, you will focus on defining the microarchitecture for Arm’s next-generation Cortex-X and Neoverse CPUs. You will drive innovations in CPU design incorporating architecture and IPC performance features. This position provides the opportunity to work across architecture, design, validation and implementation, while influencing both Arm’s internal design direction and partner engagement.
Responsibilities
As part of the CPU Design team, you will be accountable for:
- Microarchitecture Definition & Innovation
- Define and design next-generation CPU microarchitectures with industry-leading performance, power, and area efficiency.
- Evaluate future IPC and architecture features for adoption and implementation into the microarchitecture.
- Drive domain-specific feature invention, definition, and prototyping.
- Collaboration & Influence
- Partner with CPU design teams to integrate architectural innovations into real designs.
- Engage with engineers across performance modeling, validation, and implementation teams to deliver against aggressive schedules.
- Present and communicate complex technical concepts clearly across diverse audiences.
- Mentorship & Leadership
- Provide technical mentorship to less-experienced engineers in microarchitecture and design best practices.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of team methodologies, tools, and workflows.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
- 10+ years of experience in CPU/system microarchitecture development.
- Proven expertise in high-performance CPU microarchitecture.
- Domain expertise in various logic areas of CPU microarchitecture design – specifically areas in LoadStore memory system design including: TLB, cache, hazard checking, speculative execution, coherency protocols, etc.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to debug and reason across complex systems.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated track record of successful microarchitectural innovation from concept through implementation.
- Experience interacting directly with customers or partners addressing questions through support channels.
- Passion for continuous learning and driving improvements for improved efficiency.

Salary Range:
$249,900-$338,100 per yearWe value people as individuals and our dedication is to reward people competitively and equitably for the work they do and the skills and experience they bring to Arm.
