Graduate Physical Implementation Applications Engineer

Job ID 2025-14881 Date posted Oct. 15, 2025 Location Austin, Texas Category Hardware Engineering Apply

We are seeking a highly motivated engineer to join our CPU and Subsystems physical implementation support team. Arm's Partner Enablement Group (PEG), based in our Austin office, has the charter to ensure success for Arm’s customers by providing timely, powerful knowledge through innovative services.

With the ever increasing complexity associated with implementing multi-core designs and subsystems in FinFET processes, we need a seasoned individual with the capability for solving complex challenges by offering guidance, training, and support services. Arm’s IP portfolio expansion from mobile computing into AI, automotive, Infrastructure, and IOT among other market segments resulted in consistent growth beyond the semiconductor industry averages. Here is your chance to harness that growth to advance your career at Arm!

In this role, you will support leading semiconductor design houses to implement advanced Arm cores/subsystems in their nanometer SoC designs meeting performance, power, and area requirements. You will work with Arm experts using the latest CPU and subsystem design techniques, latest EDA tools/flows, as well as the latest foundry process nodes to put together reference implementation methodologies and will play a key role in imparting that knowledge to Arm customers.

What you could be doing as a Physical Implementation Applications Graduate?

  • Develop, help market, and deliver physical design support services to accelerate customer silicon success.
  • Cooperate and communicate with the RTL, implementation and SoC design teams e.g., evaluate core/system implementation performance vs. power tradeoffs, supplement EDA tool shortcomings with custom script workarounds, and devise physical design flows to extract optimum performance from cell and macro libraries.
  • Develop training collateral for our customer base.
  • Collaborate with EDA vendors to extend the best in class results from our designs.

We are looking for individuals who:

Hold (or are on track to hold) a Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering by September 2026. Master’s degree is preferred. Candidates with alternative degrees will also be considered if they have relevant experience.

  • 1 - 2 years of proven meaningful experience within the industry.
  • Demonstrable experience with synthesis, floor/power planning, place and route, clock distribution, signal & power integrity, DFM, physical verification, LEC and static timing analysis.
  • Experience in the entire IC design flow, from RTL through to PnR & STA, especially in hierarchical designs.

Qualities that will help your application stand out:

  • Processor and interconnect microarchitecture.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Perl, Python and TCL and experience with Verilog RTL design.
  • Experience with low power design techniques (power gating, DVFS, etc.).
  • DFT and MBIST.
  • SoC design complexity management via hierarchical implementation flows.

Additional Information:

We encourage early applications as we review them on a first come/first served basis.

In Return:

In addition to a competitive salary and comprehensive rewards package, you'll also receive the support, autonomy and opportunity to excel in your career.

With a mid-year, and year-end review you'll have two windows each year to progress recognizing the pace at which you could grow.
