Job Overview:
The Modelling team at Arm is looking for a hands-on Test Lead to drive a transformation in testing culture for early CPU model development. This role is ideal for someone passionate about quality, automation, and innovation, with expertise in low-level C++ and a deep understanding of computer architecture! You will develop and implement a comprehensive testing strategy, shaping quality policies for a complex, monolithic codebase while optimising automated tests to enhance the developer experience. As a mentor and leader, you will guide the team in best testing practices, fostering a collaborative, quality-driven environment to ensure developers can build applications on a high-quality CPU model, accelerating time to market and product reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and execute a robust test strategy in collaboration with technical leads, ensuring alignment with business goals and project requirements.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship, guiding developers and engineers in best testing practices.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive testing culture, driving continuous quality improvements across the team.
- Enhance and optimise automated testing frameworks to improve efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
- Collaborate with the DevOps team to integrate automated testing into Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD) pipelines while monitoring key testing metrics for insights into coverage and quality trends.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Demonstrated experience in low-level software development, including assembly programming, particularly in embedded systems or firmware.
- Strong understanding of computer architecture and hardware architectures, preferably ARM-based, and their impact on testing strategies.
- Hands-on experience with automated testing tools, frameworks, and methodologies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence, mentor, and collaborate effectively with developers and testers.
- Strong proficiency in C++ (C++17), with experience debugging and optimising C++ programmes.
Nice-To-Have Skills and Experience:
- Expertise in developing and implementing test strategies, automated testing frameworks, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of advanced low-level software testing techniques.
- Experience working with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or Artifactory.
