Overview:
Arm's Machine Learning team are taking our ground breaking Neural Network accelerator technology into the Automotive industry to help ignite the AI Defined Vehicle. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who can draw on their technical experience to lead the design of a new software stack for Arm's AI accelerators to enable Automotive applications. Someone eager to navigate the juxtaposition of fast-paced AI in real-time safety-critical environments. Someone to set a technical direction for engineering teams which balances ambition with pragmatism & delivery. This role involves working with cross-site, diverse and multi-disciplined teams across Arm's worldwide engineering centers.
Responsibilities:
Working with a diverse group of world leading architects, you will:
- Define & evolve an overall technical strategy for bringing hardware accelerated neural networks into functionally safe real-time applications. This needs to dovetail with the MLOps practices emerging across the industry and be tractable for our engineering teams to deliver.
- Keep yourself up-to-date with the latest practices and software in the industry, working with partners and building your professional network. Apply this knowledge by guiding the technical direction of relevant engineering teams.
- Enable developers to use leading frameworks such as PyTorch to train and validate neural networks for Arm's accelerators. Design software tooling to optimise such neural networks and deploy them to Arm's hardware. Design a corresponding runtime execution environment in which these can run, suitable for use in real-time and safety-critical applications.
- Help commercial teams understand the costs and lead-times associated with significant new requirements and help engineering management plan and organise how best to deliver on them.
- Engage and work closely with the respective engineering teams who will implement your ideas and designs and help them deliver a smooth and polished overall solution.
- Assist functional safety manager in safety analysis, and be on hand to help customers through safety certification.
- Assess feature gaps and performance challenges in our software, exploring solution space to address them. Judge relative priorities and help keep a balance between contending needs.
Required Skills and Experience :
- Knowledge & experience developing software for safety-critical applications, following formal safety processes and analysis such as those defined in ISO 26262, ISO 21448, ISO/PAS 8800 and related standards.
- Experience in GPU, NPU, or accelerator driver architecture and development, in particular with memory management and execution synchronisation.
- C/C++ software development background and experience with embedded platforms & OSes such as INTEGRETY, QNX or VxWorks.
- Deep knowledge of computer system fundamentals, with an inquiring mind and keenness to learn
- Experience of requirements analysis, software architecture definition, and documentation.
- Stong personal skills and comfort working in a highly collaborative way, influencing rather than directing others.
In Return:
We have an excellent track record of building up expertise in people, so this is an excellent opportunity for you to learn something new and interesting in a friendly and collaborative environment. Join a multinational, dynamic and highly motivated software development group where you will enjoy the support of your colleagues while being challenged by novel technical problems!
We believe in a healthy work/life balance and this role in particular would suit someone with a family who wants a more flexible way of working. For the right candidate, a reduced hours contract would be considered.
