Job Overview:
We are developing a central AI Platform to enable the safe, scalable, and efficient use of AI across Arm’s engineering teams, and we're looking for an engineer to join us. This role involves both user enablement and hands-on engineering for someone deeply engaged with AI technology. You will learn how Arm engineers currently apply AI, support their current usage, anticipate their future needs, and use your industry knowledge to help build Arm's AI Platform.
Participate in production support and our paid on-call rota for high impact incident response.
Responsibilities:
You will initially contribute in three key areas:
1. Understanding AI use cases and emerging technology:
- Stay informed about the AI industry landscape, encompassing areas such as models, agents, MCP, retrieval, evaluation, coding assistants, workflow automation, AI safety tooling, and vendor offerings.
- Gain comprehensive insight into the ways Arm engineers apply AI today. Identify where safe, secure, and scalable AI will be needed across software, hardware, platform, and engineering workflows.
- Translate emerging technology trends and engineering use cases into practical recommendations for AI Platform capabilities, roadmap priorities and adoption patterns.
2. Evaluation, prototyping and demonstration:
- Explore safe and secure patterns for the usage of core AI technologies - including skills, agents, RAG pipelines, MCP gateways, workload isolation, secrets management, LLM gateways and more.
- Evaluate, prototype and implement technology solutions that provide the controls, guardrails and observability needed for Arm engineers to use AI safely whilst ensuring a first class engineering experience.
- Develop demos, examples, and reference implementations illustrating how emerging AI features can be activated via our AI Platform.
3. OpenAI toolset ownership and Engineering enablement:
Own and evolve Arm’s OpenAI toolset for Engineering, including Codex, ChatGPT, OpenAI APIs and an AI Gateway, ensuring these services are safe, supportable and have a great engineering experience.
- Track Codex, ChatGPT and OpenAI API releases, assessing relevance and leading safe adoption of new capabilities.
- Own custom tooling, automation, integrations and secure configuration for the AI Gateway and OpenAI services.
- Support engineering users through guidance, advice, documentation, demos and enablement sessions.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Strong software engineering skills, with the ability to build working prototypes, integrations and examples rather than only advise conceptually.
- Knowledge of the AI tooling and vendor landscape, paired with curiosity and discernment about the direction of the ecosystem.
- Strong practical experience working with Codex and OpenAI APIs.
- Good understanding of AI safety, governance, privacy, security, evaluation, observability and lifecycle concerns in an enterprise context.
"Nice to Have" Skills and Experience:
- Experience collaborating with vendors, research teams, open-source communities, or enterprise AI governance groups.
- Familiarity with secure execution, sandboxing, workload isolation, data-loss prevention or policy-as-code approaches
- Experience with platforms such as BricksLLM, LiteLLM, custom API gateways or equivalent gateway/routing layers.
- Hands-on experience with applied AI technologies such as LLMs, RAG, embeddings, vector databases, model orchestration, agents, MCP servers, tool-calling or AI evaluation frameworks!
In Return:
This is a chance to help build a new AI Platform capability for Arm. In return, we'll welcome you into a collaborative, low-ego but high performing team, alongside a highly capable and deeply technical set of peers. We will give you room to grow technically, an interesting and challenging role, and an opportunity to improve the lives of thousands of engineers across Arm!
