Job Overview:
We are seeking trademark counsel / senior counsel to join the IP team within our in-house Legal function.
This is an opportunity to join our business at an exciting time as Arm’s business continues to grow, and with that the importance of our brands. Reporting to Arm’s Principal Trademark Counsel, you will be aqualified and commercially minded trademark attorney familiar with experience across the full lifecycle of trademark related matters including filing, prosecution, protection and disputes and will perform an important role in the execution of Arm’s trademark and strategy.
Our UK Legal team are predominantly based in Cambridge, UK, although an interest in working from our Manchester office will also be considered.
Responsibilities - The range of work within the TM prosecution includes:
- Facilitating clearance searches and providing advice to the business including legal opinions, usage and risks.
- Trademark prosecution activities include establishing multi-jurisdictional trademark filing programs and working with international counsel to secure protection.
- Portfolio management and renewals.
- Preparing oppositions, cancellation actions, and invalidation actions.
- Matters related to company namedisputes, such as challenging and negotiating trademark coexistence agreements as well as domain name disputes.
- Supporting brand protection activities.
- Being an advisor to the business, including developing guidance for internal users and third parties such as education on brand usage.
- Working with our corporate development team on M&A transactions.
Required skills and Experience
- Qualified TM attorney with good knowledge of UK, EU and US trademark systems (global experience highly valued)
- Experience with online brand enforcement tools and IP monitoring software
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to deliver practical, commercial advice which is aligned to Arm’s strategy and culture in a clear and solutions-focused way
- You will be proactive, adaptable and comfortable with autonomy – but collaborative in approach
‘Nice to Have’ Skills and Experience
- Whilst in-house experience at a global corporation would be advantageous, we are very open to candidates with an interest in moving in-house and able to demonstrate their commercial ability.
- Experience of in-house IP management systems
- Exposure to open-source software IP related matters including usage of trademarks in software environments.
