Senior Software Engineer, AI Developer Tools and Platforms

Job ID 2026-17439 Date posted May. 26, 2026 Location Cambridge, United Kingdom Category Software Engineering Apply

Job Overview

Our team crafts developer platforms and tools that help developers get the best out of Arm technology on day one. We support Arm’s outstanding developer ecosystem with practical, high-quality solutions that enable developers to seamlessly compose, build and deploy AI workloads accelerated by Arm-based hardware.

We are looking for a curious and driven engineer who is passionate about delivering impactful, high-quality software with a strong focus on the end user experience. You will work across developer tools, platform capabilities, runtime services and deployment workflows.

Success in this role means reducing developer friction, moving comfortably across stacks and thinking beyond the code to the full user journey. Experience from robotics, edge AI or autonomous systems would make you a particularly strong addition to the team, especially if you have worked with sensors, simulation, real-time constraints or heterogeneous compute.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement and maintain developer-facing APIs, libraries, tools, extensions and platforms.
  • Build reliable abstractions over hardware features, deployment environments and runtime capabilities.
  • Work with users and teams across Arm to understand goals, identify friction points and align technical decisions with product and ecosystem needs.
  • Improve software quality through testing, code review, clear interfaces and adaptable implementations.
  • Contribute to upstream or open-source projects where doing so improves adoption, interoperability or long-term maintainability.
  • Optimise for real-world constraints, such as latency, power, reliability, observability and reproducibility, when shaping features and workflows.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrable proficiency in at least one programming language and software stack.
  • Curiosity and initiative to create effective developer experiences through the thoughtful adoption of AI and other emerging technologies and methodologies.
  • A strong sense of collaboration and the drive to build consensus across multi-functional teams.
  • Demonstrable ability to think beyond the code and consider the potential product and user impact of technical decisions.
  • Ability to navigate unfamiliar domains, identify areas for improvement and translate that into practical solutions.

Nice To Have Skills and Experience

  • Experience with Go, Python or Rust.
  • Experience creating developer platforms or tools, including APIs, CLIs, VS Code extensions, dashboards, examples or workflow automation.
  • Experience developing for and on Arm architectures.
  • Experience with robotics, autonomous systems or sensor-rich applications, including ROS/ROS2, simulation, perception or real-time software.
  • Familiarity with latency, power, reliability or observability constraints in deployed systems.
  • Experience collaborating closely with product or design teams.

In Return

Our team offers an inclusive and highly collaborative environment, with work that spans a wide variety of products and technology stacks, ensuring there will always be plenty of opportunity to learn and challenge yourself. You will help shape practical developer platforms, tools and workflows for emerging AI workloads on Arm, while working as a broad, user-focused software engineer rather than being tied to a single specialist domain.

Please note that no relocation package is available for this role. If skilled worker sponsorship is required, Arm will meet costs associated with sponsorship for the employer only. All fees associated with the individual’s application e.g. visa application fee and Immigration Health Surcharge, will be the responsibility of the successful candidate.
