Job Overview:
Meeting Area, Frequency, and Power requirements with a reasonable runtime is one of most meaningful activities we encounter when developing CPUs.
As part of the CPU physical implementation team, interns will be given ownership of an investigation topic directly related to CPU development. Interns will have the opportunity to learn about processor development.
We will provide one subject per student, and will allocate a dedicated expert engineer to follow the progress of each intern.
Responsibilities:
Several subjects will be available focusing on frequency, area and power analysis and improvement. Interns will be responsible for investigating one specific topic under tutor supervision as well as sharing their findings through regular presentations to the team and reports.
Required Skills and Experience:
Students in their last year of Masters (BAC+5 or equivalent) and available for a 5 to 6-month internship
Students in electronic engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or other relevant field
A keen curiosity of CPU and digital systems
An understanding of computer architecture fundamentals and familiarity with digital design concepts and Power/Performance/Area trade-off
Excellent attention to detail and creativity
Ability to communicate ideas effectively and good interpersonal and teamwork skills
“Nice To Have” Skills and Experience:
Exposure to synthesis, place and route tools and techniques.
Familiarity with a hardware description language such as VHDL or Verilog/SystemVerilog.
Familiarity with versioning environment such a git, linux environment and shell programming/scripting, for example. bash, git, or make.
