We are seeking a highly motivatedServer Firmware Development Director / Senior Managerto lead our server firmware engineering efforts! In this position, lead and strengthen a team of firmware development and QA engineers passionate about delivering robust, scalable, and high-performance firmware solutions for next-generation server platforms. The ideal candidate brings a strong technical background, shown leadership in firmware development, and hands-on experience working with ODM partners.
This position is based in Austin or San Jose.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of development of UEFI BIOS Aptio core and BMC firmware MegaRAC architecture; both in based on AMI
- Guide the team in integrating features for platform initialization, hardware monitoring, power management, security, and system diagnostics.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and interoperability with hardware and software stacks.
- Work closely with ODM partners in a co-development model; lead joint schedules, track work you're doing, and integration timelines.
- Coordinate with hardware design, platform software, and system validation teams to ensure cohesive product delivery.
- Work with internal and external collaborators to define firmware features and debug platform issues.
- Drive high-quality firmware releases through robust QA testing, automation, and validation strategies.
- Implement and carry out development standard processes, version control, and CI/CD pipelines, while maintaining comprehensive documentation and lead progress using agile methodologies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; 10+ plus years in embedded systems or firmware development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Deep understanding of x86 server architecture and platform initialization processes.
- Expertise in AMI Aptio UEFI BIOS and AMI MegaRAC BMC firmware development.
- Have worked in a joint development model with ODM partners.
- Strong debugging, board bring-up, and firmware validation skills.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in hyperscale, data center, or enterprise server product development.
- Familiarity with Redfish, IPMI, PCIe, DDR, and secure boot.
- Track record of delivering sophisticated server firmware solutions from concept to production.
- Experience leading globally distributed engineering teams.
Salary Range:
