Arm leads many of the major transformations happening in computing and AI. This role offers a chance to help develop how Arm navigates this fast-changing technology field. You will identify emerging companies and technologies, build strategic relationships, and guide our choices in partnerships and venture investments.
Located in Silicon Valley, you will serve as an important local contact for Arm’s Strategic Ventures team. You will collaborate with colleagues in the UK and Arm’s US technology and commercial leadership. You will explore a dynamic and busy innovation environment, pinpointing opportunities that align with Arm’s long-term strategic goals.
We seek a person with independence, curiosity, and judgement to explore beyond current markets and immediate business needs. They will identify emerging technologies that might develop new opportunities or question existing beliefs.
For those with a solid technical background, this role offers a chance to expand strategic, commercial, and investment knowledge while assuming major responsibility for tasks in a top global technology environment.
Responsibilities:
- Act as a key local representative of Strategic Ventures in Silicon Valley, working independently while staying closely connected with the globally distributed team.
- Build relationships with founders, technology leaders, venture investors, and others to develop a strong network across emerging technology ecosystems.
- Actively seek out and identify companies and technologies that align with Arm’s priorities, focusing mainly on opportunities outside its core businesses.
- Navigate and filter a high volume of emerging opportunities, distinguishing meaningful strategic potential from market enthusiasm and short-term trends.
- Explore and chart emerging technology landscapes, coordinating research and opportunity identification with UK colleagues and Arm’s technical experts.
- Analyze opportunities by considering technical, strategic, and commercial aspects, engaging Arm experts for in-depth technical verification.
- Develop clear recommendations on where Arm should investigate further, build relationships, partner, invest or continue to monitor.
- Manage specific local connections, collaborating with Arm’s US commercial and technical leadership to cultivate promising opportunities into partnerships or potential investments.
Necessary Skills and Experience:
- A solid technical background in a field pertinent to the future of computing, such as semiconductors, computer systems, AI, networking, software, or another advanced-technology area.
- Strong analytical thinking and commercial judgement, with the ability to assess unfamiliar technologies, weigh competing opportunities and arrive at evidence-based conclusions.
- The capability to grasp both how a technology operates and its possible broader strategic and commercial importance.
- Intellectual curiosity, independence and sound judgement, with the focus to maintain strategic direction in a fast paced and opportunity-rich setting.
- The confidence to operate autonomously, build relationships and engage effectively with senior technical and business collaborators across organizational boundaries.
- Strong written and verbal communication, including the ability to transform complex technical information into clear recommendations for a geographically distributed team.
Preferred but Not Required Skills and Experience:
Previous venture investment experience is not required. Relevant additional experience could include:
- Working with startups, new technologies, research organizations or universities.
- Technology or product strategy, strategic partnerships, business development, corporate development or venture investing.
- Mapping new technology landscapes, identifying promising companies or assessing competing technical approaches.
- Assessing the commercial potential of technology or contributing to investment, partnership, or arguments.
- Developing connections throughout Silicon Valley’s technology firms, startups, academic institutions, or investment sector.

Salary Range:
