Are you curious about the performance and evolution of CPU micro-architectures ? As a CPU Performance Benchmarking engineer, you will be responsible for delivery of performance and power metrics to teams designing Arm's next generation of power-efficient CPUs, and to apply and enhance novel techniques to analyse data and progress performance of processors and cache systems. Your role will extend to mentoring junior team members and collaborating with other sites to optimise shared processes.
Job Overview:
You will work in collaboration with other UK based CPU engineering teams, evaluating and improving the performance features of micro-architectures utilising industry standard workloads. Continuously enriching and accelerating our methodologies to achieve this is also a key part of the role!
If exploring the internal functioning of CPUs and their performance excites you, we would like to hear from you. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a world-leading CPU performance optimisation team.
Responsibilities:
- Analyse and report CPU/IP performance over their development cycle
- Collaborate with designers and other performance engineers to investigate/improve power/performance/area for IPs
- Maintain/improve infrastructure to employ targets like Emulators/Simulators/FPGA to evaluate performance/power
- Provide insights to Customers/Architects/Marketing with regards to PPA of IPs in different scenarios/use-cases
Required Skills and Experience :
- Familiar with CPU micro-architecture concepts (such as CPU pipelines, caches, predictors, MMUs)
- Experience with low-level embedded 'C' or assembler software development coding, testing, optimising and debugging
- Developing in Linux environments with strong experience in shell, Python or Perl scripting
- Experience on CPU performance analysis, especially using industry benchmarks
