Job Overview:
We’re seeking a Senior Performance Engineer to lead performance analysis and tuning across Arm’s engineering compute platform. You’ll help uncover efficiency gaps and shape improvements across cloud-native systems, high-performance compute clusters, large-scale storage infrastructure, FPGA and Emulators.
This role focuses on real-world performance insights, helping teams better utilise compute and storage resources to support large-scale EDA workloads. You’ll work with platform teams, architects, EDA vendors, Cloud Service Providers, and 3rd party tooling vendors to ensure our platforms delivers the throughput, scale, and efficiency required by engineering.
Responsibilities:
- Analyse and improve performance across compute, scheduling, and storage layers
- Identify bottlenecks and propose actionable tuning strategies
- Collaborate with flow teams and vendors to optimise tool usage and deployment
- Contribute to observability tooling to support analysis and long-term tuning
- Help define metrics to guide ongoing capacity optimisation work
Required Skills and Experience:
- Proven performance tuning experience in large-scale EDA environments
- Deep familiarity with HPC or large-scale cloud-native compute environments
- Experience tuning network-attached storage (NAS) and managing storage performance
- Hands-on knowledge of job schedulers like LSF, SLURM, or cloud-native batch systems
- Familiarity with tools for tracing, profiling, and monitoring production clusters
- Comfortable tuning kernel/system parameters and working with external vendors
- Strong, hands-on debugging and clear documentation practices
“Nice To Have” Skills and Experience:
- Practical experience with distributed tracing in multi-stage workflows
- Prior work with EDA tools or simulation pipelines, including performance validation and licensing behaviours
- Ability to work with vendors on roadmap discussions and performance fixes
In return:
Join a collaborative, fast-moving team solving meaningful platform challenges. You’ll have room to grow technically, contribute directly to platform strategy, and improve performance for thousands of engineers across Arm.
