Job Overview:

If you’re excited by emerging AI applications on edge devices, and enjoy understanding how systems behave and perform in real-world environments, this could be a great opportunity!

We are looking for an engineer to join our growing team to explore and evaluate Arm IP and tooling for edge AI compute, investigating workloads such as large language models and agentic AI.

Position is based in Cambridge, UK.

Responsibilities:

This role focuses on AI inference runtime characteristics, producing data-driven analysis and meaningful insights that influence future edge AI technologies across CPU, GPU, and NPU-class architectures.

This role would suit someone who enjoys understanding how AI workloads behave across hardware and software systems, and who uses data-driven analysis to help guide future improvements

You will work closely with hardware architects and software engineers to:

  • Collaborate with the team to investigate and understand AI inference workloads on real-world use cases
  • Develop evaluation and analysis workflows that provide insights into system behaviour
  • Investigate opportunities to improve efficiency and understand where these can be demonstrated
  • Evaluate inference runtimes, toolchains, and deployment frameworks across heterogeneous compute architectures
  • Share insights clearly to technical and non-technical audiences

Required Skills and Experience:

  • University degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Engineering, or related scientific subject
  • Software development experience in languages such as Python or C++

"Nice to Have" Skills and Experience:

  • A curiosity about how software behaves across hardware systems
  • An interest in AI model inference on next-generation devices

We value curiosity, teamwork, and learning from different perspectives, and understand that candidates may not meet every requirement listed. If your experience is relevant and you are interested in the role, we encourage you to apply.

In Return:

You’ll join a team that genuinely values curiosity, collaboration, and practical innovation, giving you the space and support to do your best work. The role offers a blend of technical depth and opportunities to shape how next‑generation edge AI systems are built and understood.
