Job Overview:

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, integrating and supporting changes in the SAP estate through a Basis lense, in all phases of the software development lifecycle. Encouraged to collaborate with the Technical Lead and technical teams to ensure all aspects of the technical requirements are delivered.

With a deep technical expertise in SAP Basis, in a SAP S/4 HANA, Fiori first based landscape and understanding of how SAP systems fit the wider architectural design, and business processes.

With a consistent track record in sophisticated SAP Basis software projects and hold at least a B.Tech in computer science, IT, or a related field, with at least 6 years of overall experience in a similar role within a large, global organisation of which a minimum of 3 years is working with SAP Basis. Experience of performing as the SAP technical specialist in large-scale IT projects from inception to completion is critical.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Technical requirements gathering, design, development, and implementation of SAP Basis.
  • Ensuring sustained service performance levels for SAP Basis including responding to and resolving incidents.
  • Modernising SAP Basis through continuous improvement.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Administration of environments, including ECC, S/4HANA, and GTS systems.
  • System installations, upgrades, patching, and maintenance.
  • Running databases used by SAP systems, including SAP HANA and Sybase, including HANA Studio, HANA Cockpit, and scale-up/scale-out architectures.
  • Operating systems that SAP runs on, like SUSE Linux and Windows.
  • Performing OS-level tasks related to SAP system operations.
  • SAP NetWeaver architecture and its components, including Web Application Server, SAP Gateway, and SAP Front End Server.
  • SAP performance tuning, system monitoring and resolving issues with tools like SAP Solution Manager, SAP EarlyWatch Alert, ST22/ST04/ST06 transactions, and system logs.
  • Leading the SAP transport system (STMS and ChaRM) for promoting changes across landscapes), including documenting procedures and strategies.
  • DB backup, recovery, and performance tuning. Planning and implementing backup strategies and disaster recovery procedures.
  • SAP security concepts, including user administration and authentication mechanisms.
  • Scripting languages (e.g., Shell, Python) for the automation of SAP Basis tasks.
  • SAP BTP and running SAP systems in cloud environments like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Experience with CI/CD practices and tools (Azure DevOps / Git / GitFlow, Jenkins, Selenium, JMeter / Blaze Meter)
  • Developing solutions in a DevOps environment, Release and deployment management, and Incident resolution for to restore normal services whilst adhering to Secure Development Lifecycle (SDLC).

“Nice To Have” Skills and Experience:

  • Relevant SAP certifications such as SAP Certified Technology Professional - SAP Basis!
  • Other relevant certifications for areas like SAP HANA or specific SAP modules!
  • Lead/Team Lead responsibilities.
