Senior Software Manager

Job ID 2024-10953 Date posted Aug. 20, 2024 Location Austin, Texas Category Software Engineering Apply

Job Overview:

Arm's Infrastructure business is growing! Our Neoverse products are leading a technology disruption across cloud and server. Our innovative processor and system designs enable strong performance with great power efficiency leading to a lower dollar and lower carbon cost of compute.

Wherever Arm operates, software is a key component.

As a senior member of our team based out of our Austin, Texas office, you will work with our partners to understand which software Arm should build to make our platforms run well, and run fast. We develop the technology strategies which address the needs of millions of developers across the Arm infrastructure ecosystem.

Responsibilities:

You will contribute to software requirement specification for our infrastructure business in the United States. You will be responsible for both definition and delivery of software roadmaps by Arm's engineering organizations.

This role requires the ability to quickly learn technology stacks across a wide range of subject areas. In any given month you may be developing a strategy for on-CPU machine learning, video acceleration, database, networking, or container technologies.

Through your collaboration with technology teams at some of the world's most exciting companies, you will develop a clear view of their software needs, and will apply your knowledge to ensure our software teams deliver maximum ecosystem impact.

Your open communication style and collaborative attitude will enable you to inspire Arm's experts to bring your ideas to market.

Required Skills and Experience :

This role would be a great fit for an engineering manager, lead, or architect looking to develop experience in setting and delivering customer-centric objectives, or for product managers interested in developing their skills managing a wider portfolio.

  • You are driven to share success through relationship and coalition building. You see your own success through the progress of our extended team.
  • Your experience includes the creation of technical software requirements. As examples, you may have been a product owner, architect, technical engineering manager or product manager.
  • You are able to quickly understand and clearly communicate complex technical topics to executive, customer, and engineering audiences
  • You have the temperament to act as a product leader in globally distributed software development teams. Your motivation carries you to do so at a consistently high level.
  • You have achieved a Computer Science BS degree (or equivalent). Other graduates with relevant experience will be considered.

“Nice To Have” Skills and Experience :

Many of Arm's development teams work in open source communities. Experience working with one or more of the larger open source projects would be desirable.

In Return:

You will have the opportunity to develop your skills from colleagues and partners across our ecosystem. Through your work in a product leadership role you will gain experience:

  • Defining the vision and priorities for multiple open source software activities which support the Arm architecture and our processor IP.
  • Working with the complete value chain of end customers, manufacturers, and designers of hardware, software and systems to collect and translate market requirements into software architecture
  • Working closely with cross-discipline architects and technology leads, directly engaging with internal and external development teams
  • Supporting our go-to-market and product teams, including participating in customer meetings, sales meetings, training, and product presentations
