We are looking for a motivated engineer to join the arm Infrastructure Line of Business's Performance and Solutions Team. Our high growth/demand group strives to ramp usage of arm IP by our partners in the networking and 5G space. In this role, you will join our team to discover bottlenecks, optimize performance, and build the latest generation for 5G as well as Networking.
Whatyou could be doing as an Infrastructure Engineering Intern?
You will be working on existing networking software stacks to determine how to improve CPU and System performance on arm architecture including:
- Automate running a networking/5g workload with ansible and/or python
- Understanding real-world use-cases and develop micro-benchmarks to model these.
- Running experiments on real and simulated platforms.
- Identifying bottlenecks across software, micro-architecture, and architecture.
- Providing guidance for optimizing networking software running on arm systems.
- Developing and improving innovative tools for architectural exploration and performance analysis.
We are looking for individuals who:
- Are currently enrolled and studying towards BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science and Engineering with coursework in computer architecture.
- Knowledge and passion for learning about networking and ML software, performance analysis and optimization.
- Conceptual knowledge of networking infrastructure architecture, workload setup, load distribution/scale-up, and performance data collection.
- Knowledge of network packet processing stacks such as DPDK, FD.io/VPP, ODP, Linux Kernel Networking, eBPF/XDP, IPSec, OVS and CNIs.
- Proficiency in one or more of the following: C/C++, Linux Perf Tools, top-down and hotspot analysis, arm CoreSight, arm SPE, eBPF, DynamoRIO, LLVM-BOLT, LLVM-Propeller, PGO/AutoFDO/LTO, Ansible, Terraform, Python.
Qualities that will help your application stand out:
- Knowledge of performance analysis and optimizations of software stacks in bare-metal, virtualized, or cloud-native forms.
- A background in NR or LTE, Transport protocols and memory architecture.
- Adaptability and willing to learn how to use unfamiliar tools and systems

This is a non-exempt hourly role which will be paid at an hourly rate based on the number of hours worked. Pay rates vary by location and educational level.
