As part of our continued growth, we are looking to hire a passionate Staff Functional Safety Engineer. Based in our office in Austin, TX, you will be working on next generation IP products in close collaboration with colleagues at our offices around the world.
You will join an expert and motivated team responsible for developing the next generation of Automotive and Industrial IP products. This role coordinates functional safety activities within a project, developing the safety context, leading safety activities, and fostering safety culture while adhering to established methodologies. You will be responsible to act as liaison for the project to product management, quality management, and safety assessors.

Responsibilities:
- Coordinate functional safety activities within the project
- Develop and maintain functional safety work products adhering to established methodologies
- Lead safety analysis within the team and develop associated work products such as FMEA, FMEDA and DFA
- Foster safety culture within the team as well as alignment, collaboration, and knowledge sharing with other project teams
- Develop and deploy continual improvement initiatives to ensure functional safety practices are effective and efficient
- Work with the product manager on establishing functional safety requirements for the product
- Assist the project manager on functional safety activity planning, resource estimation and safety training
- Act as a technical liaison between the engineering team and safety assessor during functional safety evaluations
Education
- BS in Electrical or Computer engineering or equivalent and 7+ years experience in VLSI hardware design, or
- MS in Electrical or Computer engineering and 5+ years experience in VLSI hardware design
Required Skills and Experience :
- Proficiency in hardware design and development, HDL languages, i.e. Verilog, VHDL and programming languages, i.e. C, C++, Perl, Python
- Experience working on functional safety-related development projects applying industry recognized standards, e.g., ISO 26262, IEC 61508
- Extensive knowledge and application of Safety Analysis methodologies using industry-standard tools: FMEA, FMEDA, DFA, FTA, SPFM/LFM, and PMHF
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
“Nice To Have” Skills and Experience :
- Certification and/or expertise in one or more international standards such as ISO 26262 or IEC 61508
- Exposure to projects developing safety critical automotive and industrial solutions for AD, ADAS, IVI, Digital Cockpit
- Experience with authoring and reviewing technical documentation
- Experience with fault simulation and analysis

Salary Range:
$185,491-$250,958 per yearWe value people as individuals and our dedication is to reward people competitively and equitably for the work they do and the skills and experience they bring to Arm.
