We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced software QA engineer to join our Interconnect Tooling team in a hybrid role based in Austin, TX. This role focuses on driving automation to improve the quality, reliability, and user experience of our GUI tools.
As the lead in test automation, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our test architecture and automation strategy. You will collaborate closely with team members to ensure comprehensive end-to-end validation, spanning from our Electron-based Angular/TypeScript GUI to a Python-powered backend.
Your contributions will directly support a seamless development lifecycle through CI/CD integration and automated regression protection. Experience with modern UI testing frameworks is expected, and familiarity with AI-assisted tools (e.g., Testim, Mabl, GitHub Copilot) is a strong plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain automated GUI test cases focused on an Electron-based front-end application.
- Leverage modern automation frameworks (e.g., Playwright with Codegen, Cypress, or Selenium) to implement reliable and maintainable UI test scripts.
- Ensure end-to-end functionality by validating front-end interactions with Python-based backend services.
- Use Pytest or other Python test frameworks to automate frontend/backend integration validation as part of integrated tests.
- Maintain and evolveregression testing suites integrated with Jenkins.
- Integrate test reporting and coverage metrics into CI dashboards using tools like Allure.
- Verify accurate UI behavior for dynamic, reactive forms and basic HTML elements — ensuring a seamless and reliable user experience.
- Automate and validate user operations on a 2D Layout Editor for SoC Interconnects, such as drawing, selection, drag-and-drop, zooming, and layout interactions.
- Collaborate closely with front-end and back-end developers to align automation with product requirements and system behavior.
- Contribute to test strategy, including coverage goals, stability, and maintainability.
- Evaluate and adopt AI-enhanced techniques for generating and optimizing test cases.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in GUIautomation and end-to-end testing.
- Strong expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript for frontend validation and Python for backend test integration.
- Proficiency with GUI testing frameworks such as Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium.
- Experience testing Electron or modern web applications built with Angular or React.
- Experience writing regression tests integrated with Gerrit.
- Understanding of test containerization such as Docker and virtual browser environments (e.g., Headless Chromium).
- Proven ability to validate complex UI workflows and edge-case scenarios across frontend-backend boundaries.
- Excellent attention to detail in reproducing UI inconsistencies and capturing edge cases.
