Senior Counsel, AI Governance, Privacy & Technology Compliance

Job Overview:

We’re looking for a Senior Counsel to help our teams build and use technology responsibly. You’ll work within Ethics and Compliance and partner with product, engineering, data science, security and business teams. We want someone who can spot issues early, make sound decisions when the path is unclear and turn legal requirements into steps people can use.

Responsibilities:

You’ll advise teams throughout the product lifecycle, from early design and procurement through launch, maintenance and retirement. You’ll assess risks involving AI systems, data use, privacy, cybersecurity and digital products, then help teams act on what you find.

You’ll help build our AI governance program, including reviews, risk assessments, policies, controls and records of compliance. You’ll guide our response to the EU AI Act, the EU Cyber Resilience Act, GDPR and other relevant laws. You’ll also advise on contracts and third-party technology, support audits and regulatory inquiries, and help teams respond to incidents.

We value clear advice that moves decisions forward. You’ll explain complex rules to technical and business colleagues, recommend practical safeguards and help track agreed actions to completion.

Required Skills and Experience :

• A legal qualification in the UK, an EU/EEA jurisdiction or another jurisdiction relevant to the role, plus roughly 4–8 years of post-qualification experience or an equivalent background.
• Strong experience in at least one of AI governance, privacy, cybersecurity or technology compliance, with working knowledge of another.
• Familiarity with the EU AI Act, EU Cyber Resilience Act, GDPR and related regulatory frameworks. Experience advising product or engineering teams and translating requirements into workable processes is especially valuable.
• Strong judgment, drafting and negotiation skills, technical curiosity and the ability to work independently with colleagues across subject areas.

“Nice To Have” Skills and Experience :

Experience with AI governance programs, technical standards, product conformity, machine learning or cloud services would be helpful. Relevant credentials such as AIGP, CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT, CISSP or CISM are welcome. If you bring equivalent experience instead, we’ll ask you to obtain an agreed certification within 12 months of joining.
