The Role
We are a multi-disciplinary team with board design expertise, FPGA and software, delivering hardware platforms to support Arm and our partners. This role is based in Cambridge, UK working at the forefront of Arm based designs. The Hardware Platforms team build physical hardware development platforms based on Arm’s leading compute technologies. These platforms are used widely for development, validation and to demonstrate Arm's capabilities both within Arm and externally by our partners/customers
Job Overview:
As a Senior Engineering Manager you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the board engineering team. In this role, you will also work outside the team with collaborators, including partners, helping to gather product requirements and providing technical leadership. You may also work with, and lead ODMs and CEMs for product development and delivery. Responsibilities:
You will lead and run a growing team of 10+ hardware design engineers, from expert hardware architects to those in the early stages of their careers. You will need to build strategies and ideas to improve the scope and reach of the team. As part of the role, you will work with the wider organisation, including senior leadership and Arm partners to ensure that we are delivering the right solutions and help form teams to create them!
Required Skills and Experience :
- Experience in leading board design engineering teams, both technically and the people.
- Comfortable working with individuals of all levels and customers/partners.
- Strong people leadership and management knowledge and the passion to develop people and teams.
- Confident in development planning and resource estimation (people/equipment/costs)
- Flexible and adaptable to change, including the desire to learn new skills or technical areas.
- Demonstrable ability to work with ODMs / external design contractors as well as in-house teams.
- Recent direct experience of all aspects of the full hardware development and management, including NPI for embedded systems.
- Fundamental understanding of compute architectures and functional building blocks.
“Nice To Have” Skills and Experience :
- Experience of high-speed serial interfaces, for example, PCI Express or USB and memory bus technologies such as (LP)DDR4/5.
- Good knowledge of PCB design and layout requirements for high-speed digital design and design for manufacturing, including signal integrity analysis.
