As part of our continued growth, the CPU team are looking to hire a passionate Senior or Staff Functional Safety Engineer. Based in our office in Cambridge, you will be working on next generation CPU products in close collaboration with the Cambridge team and with colleagues at our offices around the world.
We have produced some of the company’s most successful processors that have been designed-in to billions of products in use all over the world, from smartphones and tablets to AI applications, IoT and automotive systems. With the growth of the Automotive sector and other product segments where functional safety is a key requirement, we are leading the way in developing cores that can address these applications!

Job Description:
You will lead all the functional safety related aspects of project execution for a CPU project, which will include safety architecture and safety analysis (DFMEA, DFA, FMEDA). As part of a team of lead functional safety engineers on CPU projects, you will interact with engineers based in the UK, the US, France and India.
Responsibilities:
- Responsibility for making sure that the Arm functional safety process is followed in an efficient way through effective planning, timely reviews and assessments.
- Development of new safety architectures and features
- Implement the safety analysis of the CPU design.
- Provide direction and leadership for the safety-related activities carried out by engineers working on the project and provide suitable training.
- Identify and report project safety issues and concerns to the group's Functional Safety Manager.
- Participate in group-wide and company-wide functional safety initiatives, including improvement activities
Essential Skills and Experience :
- Experience of working in a functional safety related development project (applying standards such as ISO 26262 and/or IEC 61508).
- Experience of safety analysis of complex products
- Experience in hardware and/or software development, ideally in a semiconductor IP or SOC company
- Creativity and ability to communicate ideas effectively.
'Nice to Have' Skills and Experience :
- Good understanding of all stages of the design cycle: initial concept, specification, implementation, verification, documentation and support
- Leadership skills in process execution, requirements tracking, risk analysis.
- You will have a good university degree, ideally in electronic engineering or computer science.
- A functional safety qualification would be a bonus
