Seeing into the future with Raymond
Since joining us as an intern in 2014, Raymond has been on a journey that included placements in both Cambridge and Budapest, and led to a graduate scheme that allowed him to rotate around different parts of the business, including spending four months in our Sheffield office. Now he’s a full-time Senior Applications Engineer who talks to the world’s biggest brands and tech companies, helping them get the most out of our technology: “Our strong industry position and unique business model means we have many partners. We spend a lot of time collaborating with them to achieve great technological advances and to ensure their projects are successful. Although we’re best known for our CPUs that power your smartphone, in an increasingly connected world, our technology is everywhere – from smart endpoint devices and autonomous vehicles to cloud data centers and supercomputers.”
“You feel more plugged into the world.”
What excites Raymond most about Arm is the opportunities it gives you to shape the world so early into your career. He believes that each person and their team can make a greater impact here than anywhere else: “We’re not a small company, but not too big either – we’re only around 7,000 people globally. But because of the way we work and the partners we work with, there are billions of people using our technology every day. It’s really cool to see devices in action that you’ve helped make successful. You feel more plugged into the world.”
But what’s honestly the coolest thing his internship, graduate program and now career have exposed him to? Raymond says most people would love to have his insight into the latest technologies that are still being developed: “We get to see all the fantastic technology that we’ve been working on internally, but we also get to see how our partners are using this new technology to build their next-generation products. It’s not just the new technology that’s really exciting though, but also all the new ideas that our interns and graduates always bring. When you combine their new ideas and enthusiasm with the experience of our existing team, that’s when true innovation happens.”
