Do you want to help engineering the compiler toolchain that powers all the Linux distributions for Arm architectures?
Here is an excellent opportunity to work for a world class toolchain team that leads the support for Arm architectures and CPU cores in the GNU Toolchain! We are looking for an experienced engineer who is passionate about developing compilers and loves open-source software development.
The GNU Toolchain is comprised of the open-source projects GCC, Binutils, Newlib, Glibc and GDB. In Arm’s GNU Tools team, we are responsible for enabling the future architectures in the toolchain and ensuring the quality and the performance of the existing support.
As a member of the team, you will work closely with the team and collaborate with colleagues across the organisation as well as with the open-source community to come up with the best solutions for the challenges in enabling the future of computing. Your work will cover improvements to various parts of the toolchain such as the compiler, assembler, linker, libraries, debugger.
- Designing and engineering high-quality compiler toolchain improvements
- Collaborating with your colleagues across Arm to extend the support for the Arm Architectures & IP
- Contribution to the open-source software projects
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Excellent programming skills in C/C++
- Experience in developing compiler toolchain
- Experience in Linux software development environment
- Experience in developing, testing, delivering, and maintaining production-quality software.
- Dedicated and flexible, someone who is technically versatile, and can learn new skills that you can apply across multiple types of work.
Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Experience in developing any of GCC, Binutils, GDB, Glibc, Newlib
- Experience in open-source software development, contribution processes and in working with open-source communities
Education & Qualifications:
- A good degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science / Software Engineering, or an alternative with relevant experience.
