The Architecture and Technology Group (ATG) is responsible for developing the ARM Architecture and associated technologies for ARM’s roadmap. The work of the group is fundamental to ARM’s success, providing the key specifications associated with processor and related infrastructure design. This includes the information needed for compliant software development, debug and trace support, and other aspects of the ARM ecosystem. The scope applies across the broad spectrum of product areas ranging from the smallest microcontrollers to high performance computing servers.
This a rare opportunity to work on Arm technology that is used by billions of people every day. As a member of a core team that is responsible for describing Arm architecture in machine readable form and for developing simulated models using those descriptions, you will have the best opportunity to kick-start your career working with ARM architecture. You will also have the opportunity to develop and enhance the toolchains that build the architecture models, XML and the architecture reference manual and develop the repository for future architecture of computing systems.
Essential skills & requirements:
- A good understanding of computer architecture concepts.
- A strong interest in both hardware and software.
- Experience of software development in C and C++Familiarity with low level assembly language.
- Ability or keen interest to debug using low level assembly traces.
- A university degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Electronic Engineering or similar. Other disciplines will also be considered with relevant experience.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable skills & experience:
- Proficiency in a high-level shell or scripting language such as Python.
- Experience with makefiles.
- Prior work experience or project that involves working on interface between hardware and software like device drivers, operating system, compiler development.
- Prior work experience or project that involves software development using a specification document such as used for communication or networking protocols.
