Open-Source Software (OSS) group is responsible for developing and improving the software ecosystem around Arm's next generation of applications processors. This frequently means working with processors and other hardware technology not yet available to the public. We work on a range of development platforms, software-models, FPGAs and early silicon, sometimes many months before the processors are used in real products.

You will join a team of Software Engineers who all share a passion for wanting to stamp their mark on the future of computing, wherever it may lead. If you are similarly passionate about ground-breaking technologies, then we want to hear from you!

In this role, you will be a member of a Software Solutions team in the Open-Source Software (OSS) group at Arm in Budapest.

Responsibilities:

Firmware development, testing and debugging on software models and development boards
Creation of software stacks of reference platforms for the next generation of Arm devices
Analysis of industry specifications and roadmap requirements, tasks breakdown and implementation of project plans
Upstreaming and maintenance of BSPs for new platforms

Required Skills and Experience :

Excellent C skills; some assembly skills are desirable with proficiency with the GNU toolchain and/or LLVM and cross-compiling
Expertise in embedded software development and command over a range of related concepts such as bootloaders, device drivers, OS fundamentals and low-level power management
Interpersonal skills are vital for success; we are looking for strong written and spoken English; can you write precise documentation, influence and build consensus?
You are focused and self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a distributed team; showing a willingness to be flexible and accept new challenges
We expect a professional, enthusiastic and flexible approach to work with a flair for creative lateral thinking and problem solving with a commitment to extend the breadth and depth of your knowledge

“Nice To Have” Skills and Experience :

An in-depth understanding of software security concepts, methods and technologies
An understanding and demonstration of robust software testing using various techniques
Familiarity and flexible use of various software development lifecycle methods including Agile
Familiarity with open-source project development cycles and contribution processes
Practical expertise in version control systems, particularly distributed tools such as Git
Proficiency with scripting languages such as Python
Knowledge of software design techniques
