Senior Engineer -CPU System IP VerificationApply now
Test Our Limits. Your Limits.
Every day the world invents something new to put our chips to the test. You can do the same. Because verification at Arm goes way, way beyond debugging – it’s solving the novel problems behind tech that barely exists yet. It’s working at the bleeding edge of machine learning, simulation software, model checking and hardware prototyping systems. It’s thinking the unthinkable and being sure we’re ready for it.
Work At The Very Edge
At Arm, you’re in a position to influence 95% of the world’s connected devices and all of their applications. Healthcare, infrastructure, virtual reality… you’ll affect hundreds, if not thousands of industries worldwide, racing towards new milestones in human endeavour.
Learning And Development
Whether you want to learn a new programming language, explore your management potential or witness the latest innovations at industry conferences, we promise you both the freedom and the support to develop when you want it.
We'll always encourage you to take plenty of annual leave, so you stay fresh and inspired. But you know what really does it? When we encourage you to take an extended, paid four-week sabbatical after 4 years of service.
You're a human being, not a resource. So it's important to us that we're there for you at significant points in your life. Whether you're having kids, acting as a primary care giver or have lost a loved one, our flexible progressive leave allows you to put your family first without worrying about your career.
We create a safe space for you to look after your mental and physical health, with support ranging from medical insurance to the workplace mental health platform, Unmind. Alongside a growing number of onsite gyms, yoga, cycling and running clubs. All of which comes with a flexible working policy, so you can live life and be your brilliant self.
Arm is looking for highly skilled and passionate engineers to be part of its CPU/system IP verification teams.
In addition to CPUs, Arm builds high performance system components like interconnects, interrupt controllers, and system memory management units. Combining these components with Arm CPUs, various sub-system solutions are built to cater to cutting edge market segments like mobiles, servers, AI, automotive, IoT, etc.
The system-level verification team in Bangalore is responsible for verifying Arm CPUs and system IP components as part of these sub-systems at a pre-silicon stage – using industry-standard emulator and FPGA platforms from major EDA vendors.
About the role
Being a part of our team, you will push Arm CPUs and system IP components to their functional limits – targeting the IP’s internal microarchitecture, as well as its interaction with the system. If you have a good knowledge of any IP among CPUs, SoCs, interconnects, interrupt controllers, or system memory management units, and have experience verifying them, you are the right match!
The role involves understanding Arm's CPU and system architecture, AMBA bus protocols (AXI, CHI, ACE) and the design microarchitecture, and developing random instruction sequence (RIS) based soak tests to verify the design. Work will involve debugging sophisticated hardware and software failures in the CPU or the system IP around it using emulator or FPGA platforms.
This role presents a wonderful opportunity to work with cross-site teams, discuss requirements, build test plans, develop stimulus targeting corner-case scenarios, and collaborate to achieve verification goals.
There will be opportunities to make a difference by actively contributing to Arm verification methodologies which need to improve constantly to cope with design advancements.
Are you a creative, positive and adaptable person with a strong verification background? This is the role for you!
Qualifications and Experience
A good university degree in electronics, computers, or equivalent – with 4 to 8 years of proven experience in pre-silicon verification of SoC, CPU, or other system IP components (interconnects, interrupt controllers, or system memory management units e.t.c)
- Understanding of CPU, system IP and/or SoC architecture
- Deep understanding of digital design concepts and Verilog/VHDL coding
- Good in logical programming using C/C++/Assembly
- Exposure to random verification methodologies
- Proficiency in problem solving and debugging
- Proven track record of leading project execution and delivery, individually or in a team
- Great interpersonal and communication skills
- Hands-on experience on HW acceleration platforms like Emulation and FPGA
- Awareness of CPU architecture features (such as caches, MMU, SMP, coherency, CPU pipelines)
- Awareness of System IP architecture features (such as system caches, SMMU, SMP, coherency, Multichip communication)
- General understanding of Arm-based Systems and protocols like AHB, AXI, ACE, DTI or CHI
- Use of scripting languages like Perl/Python/Shell
- Knowledge of advance verification techniques like assertions, property checking, etc.
