Job Description

We are looking for a highly motivated and expert cloud network professional to join the Arm Enterprise IT - Infrastructure, Engineering & Applications group. Your focus will be to provide network support for Arm’s global infrastructure and support various network projects, focused specifically on cloud networking. As part of the Global Networks Team, the successful applicant will work on initiatives, major deployment projects and contribution to Business as Usual (BAU) support activities.

We are looking for a hardworking go-getter with 5 to 10 years of working experience in routing, switching, wireless & firewall technologies. We would also like to specifically see some experience around deploying networking in the cloud. Ideally in one or more of the following cloud environments AWS, GCP and or Azure.

This is a position working in our Austin, Texas office.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will develop a good understanding of the Arm IT infrastructure and Arm customers to:

  • Work on Network Projects and Operational activities.
  • With a breakdown around 90% project work & 10% operation support.
  • Act as a domain expert for cloud networking.
  • Mentor and help train staff in Cloud Networking.
  • Work Independently and take ownership of the projects and come up with mitigation plan for any challenges and risks.
  • Monitoring and response to network alerts and incidents, updating known error and workaround database and problem logs.
  • Working as part of a distributed team, in a follow the sun environment. Taking ownership of high priority incidents
  • Making sure monitoring, site documentation and configuration are all accurate and up to date.
  • Site resiliency rating and improvement work (identifying and reducing single points of failure)

Required Skills and Experience :

  • Relevant Cisco technical accreditation is desirable. (CCNA, CCNP).
  • Relevant Cloud technical accreditation is desirable in AWS, GCP & Azure
  • Ability to lead cloud network deployments
  • Software Defined WAN experience (Cisco SD WAN experience is desirable)
  • Experience in maintaining large sophisticated vendor agnostic networks.
  • WAN/LAN network experience, including administration and physical installation of routers, switches, wireless, telephony and firewalls.
  • Understanding of networking protocols BGP, OSPF, QoS etc.
  • Experience of proactively monitoring the availability of an enterprise network and use of monitoring tools (PRTG, Grafana would be desirable).
  • Capable of performing network solving to isolate and diagnose complex network problems.
  • Experience of clearly documenting systems.
  • Strong alignment to agreed deadlines while maintaining a focus on quality.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
  • Experience writing HLDs & LLDs
  • Pro-active, attention to detail and self-motivated in meeting tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work both unsupervised and as part of a global distributed team.

“Nice To Have” Skills and Experience :

  • Understanding of ITIL, including incident management, organizational change and configuration management.
  • Vendor & Supplier engagement (Fault logging & Order tracking).
  • Firewall experience (Cisco FirePower, ASA are desirable)
  • Remote Access VPN experience (Cisco AnyConnect experience is desirable)
  • Network Access Control experience (Cisco ISE experience is desirable)
  • Software Defined Data Center experience (Cisco ACI experience is desirable)
  • Wireless Networking experience (Aruba & Cisco AirOS)
  • Experience with issue tracking systems (e.g. JIRA) & understanding of Agile Scrum process.
  • Experience of working with different infrastructure teams (Networks, Platforms, Linux, Virtualization & Storage)
  • Programming/scripting knowledge (Python, Ansible) for network automation
